Antiqva (pronounced as; antiqua) was conceived by Xenoyr and Schoocraft through touring in the mild European Autumn of 2015. They had both felt the need to explore different musical pathways within the same band, ultimately starting a project that combined the age and elegance of classical music with the wild fervour of black metal, bringing both worlds together to create something altogether truly immense yet intimately detailed. Featuring an experienced ensemble of past, present and live musicians from well established bands; Ne Obliviscaris, Negator, Karkaos/Blackguard, Black Crown Initiate, Susperia/Abyssic, and The Ocean; Antiqva hope to pay homage to an old organic sound whilst bringing to the fore the varied influences within the band.
Through focused isolation and international production in 2020, Antiqva, dubbed as Chamber Black Metal, will reveal their debut single, ‘Funeral Crown’ - set to be released in December. Following into 2021 will see the band finalizing the writing and production process for their debut full length album, continuing the push for this line-up to keep expanding their vision through these challenging and uncertain times.

History: Xenoyr (or Xen) is the founder and
vocalist of Australian metal band, Ne
Obliviscaris, he co-founded Antiqva with
Schoolcraft in 2015, and began extreme
void metal project, Omega Infinity in 2018.
He is also a published photographer and artist.

Herstory: Lindsay has been singing and
creating music since a very young age.
After working with multiple bands from
2002-2012 she pursued her classical
training on piano at the Royal Conservatory
of Music in Toronto. From there she was
accepted into York University to study
opera and orchestral theory, but left shortly
after to pursue a position in Extreme Heavy
Metal band Cradle of Filth. Through this
she met Xenoyr on her worldly travels and
after a few years a friendship developed
which sparked the creation of Antiqva.
Lindsay is also a harpist, lyricist, and
occasionally gets to play the local church
organ. She very much looks forward to
sharing her newly developed vocal style
with the world through Antiqva along with
all the dark classical music she has been
writing in her head since she was a child.

History: Fabian has been playing guitar
since his early youth. He has been active in
several bands from the very start and he
joined German black metal outfit Negator
in early 2014. He met Xen in 2015 and
vaguely talked about the notion of a more
“Black Metal” side project. When Xen and
Lindsay officially started searching for a
guitarist, Fabian was ultimately chosen.

Herstory: Justine has been a drummer for
over two decades now. She met Lindsay in
2013 through touring with her band,
Blackguard. They kept in touch throughout
the years and collaborated musically on
many pieces for various projects. “I was
very honored when she thought of me for
Antiqva, and after she explained to me
what the musical goals were for it, I was
like “YESS”!!!”. Justine is very versed in
Classical percussion, choir teaching and
conducting, and performs in orchestras
when time allows. She does however like to
focus on her metal acts which also include
Karkaos and Sykode.

History: Memnock has been creating music
since he was very young. He was involved
in multiple bands in the 1990s from Abyssic,
Emperor, Old Man’s Child to Borknagar. In
1999 he joined Susperia where he stayed
until 2019. In Abyssic he performs all vocals
and upright bass, in addition he composes
some of the classical sections and all the
lyrics. Memnock has always been a bassist
by heart, but is also skilled at the guitar and
some piano.

History: Music came into Andy’s life at a
very young age. His mother’s love of Peter
Gabriel and Pink Floyd, and his father’s love
of Thin Lizzy, Rush, Jimi Hendrix, and Black
Sabbath had him hooked by the time he
was 5 years old. He started playing guitar at
the age of 9, and was self-taught until High
School where he started taking lessons
with an incredible guitarist by the name of
Ken Gehret. Andy studied music in college
and also took lessons with Vitalij Kuprij, the
keyboardist of the Trans-Siberian
Orchestra. Andy is best known for his work
in the band Black Crown Initiate, whom
toured with Ne Obliviscaris in 2016, and
that’s where he first met Xen.
